And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
ARE YOU ARE LABORER OR A WORKER?
WORKER - A person who works a specific job.
Characteristics of a Worker - Complacent, idle, competitive, discouraged, manipulative.
When we hear the word labor we tend to think of pain and cringe upon it. It sounds like someone working long and hard with no reward. What about worker? Have you ever heard someone say "that's one of my best workers" or "he/she is a hard worker". Today, you'll never hear or see a negative adjective before the word worker. A worker tends to have at least one skill to work a "specific job" unlike a laborers who are unqualified, but they can be taught a multiplicity of things.
In the Parable of the Laborers, Jesus teaches his disciples about comparison, competition, compensation. Matthew 20:1-2 it says "For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard." Throughout the day, the householder went to the marketplace four more times to hire more laborers and agreed to pay them "whatsoever is right" (Matthew 20:7).
When the day was done, each person received their wages. The group of people that were hired last received a FULL DAY'S WAGE. The FIRST was compensated the same amount but was ungrateful. They compared themselves to the last hires and believed they should have been compensated more because "they worked all day in the sun" (v.12). Nevertheless, the owner reiterated their verbal agreement, "a penny a day."
Are you a Laborer or a Worker? Is your service unto the Lord for competitive, monetary and status quo? The laborers were faithful and believed the householder would compensate them accordingly, but God is fair and just. He does not reward because of your skill or talents, he rewards you according to your FAITH.
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Matthew 9:37 "Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few"
WHAT DO YOU SEE?
What do you see? Perception is created in your mind. In Genesis 1:1 it says "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." The second verse states "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (Genesis 1:2).
How did God see and create Heaven and earth, if it was without form, void and dark. God knows and sees all things. He is omniscient. We need faith to believe, even in the darkest situations in our lives.
